TORONTO WELDERS / ONTARIO WELDING GUIDES

Understanding CWB Welding Qualifications

When hiring welding personnel, the relevant qualification and project requirements matter more than a generic “certified welder” label.

Welder qualifications versus company certification

Individual welder qualifications and a company’s certification status are different things. Identify which is required for the contract, and verify current status with the appropriate authority.

Match the actual work

Check welding process, test position, applicable standards and scope. A ticket for one process or position should not be treated as a universal approval for all welding work.

Document checks

Request appropriate credential information and verify it through authorized channels where needed. Consider project welding procedures, inspection arrangements and relevant safety training separately.
